Why Practical Effects Still Matter in Modern Cinema
I just rewatched The Thing (1982) and I'm blown away by how the practical effects hold up better than CGI from movies made just five years ago. https://ticket-ranking.co.kr There's something about physical, tangible creatures and gore that our brains recognize as "real" even when we know it's fake. Don't get me wrong, CGI has its place and can be stunning, but I wish more filmmakers would blend both techniques like Mad Max: Fury Road did. The weight, the texture, the lighting interactions—practical effects just hit different. Anyone else feel like we lost something important in the rush to go fully digital?
